March 24th-27th, 2015: Otology Update 2015 Hannover |

The 18th Course on Ear and Temporal Bone Surgery will be held at the ENT Dept. of Otolaryngology, Medical University of Hannover (Germany).
All surgeries of the 18th Otology Update will be broadcasted live by LION
It is the annual course in Otology and Neurotology of the Medizinischen Hochshule Hannover. Regional and international faculty will discuss the latest trends in Middle Ear Surgery, Neurotology and Cochlear Implants
The program includes more than 50 live surgery procedures performed by expert surgeons in otology & neurotology. Live surgeries will cover all fields of middle ear and skull base surgery: Meatoplasty, EAC exostosis, Myringoplasty, Ossiculoplasty, Stapes Surgery, Implantable Hearing Devices, Cochlear Implants, Implantable Hearing Aids, BAHA, Brainstem Implants, Mastoidectomy with Canal Wall up and Canal Wall Down procedures, Subtotal Petrosectomy, Surgery for Meniere Disease (Endolymphatic Sac Decompression, Vestibular Nerve Section), Acoustic neuroma, neurovascular conflict, intralabyrinthine approach to the petrous apex,
All surgeons will operate from the operating room of the Medizinischen Hochshule Hannover. The live surgery session will be transmitted live via the LION network.

The First Global Live Endoscopic Sinus Surgical Broadcast “The LION-ESS” |

LION Foundation is proud to announce extension of its mission to Rhinology with the 1st Live Global Broadcast on Endoscopic Sinus and Skull Base Surgery on Monday 11th May 2015. The 1st LION-ESS Broadcast promises to be one of the largest live surgical event in Rhinology.
We present a galaxy of world-renowned rhinologists performing live endoscopic sinus surgical procedures from their centres. The surgeries will be moderated from the central hub located at the University Medical Centre, Utrecht. Netherlands
The live internet streaming can be followed via the LION web site at: http://www.lion-web.org. Click on "Streaming live" and follow the instructions. Internet participation is free and no password is required.

The 10th Global Otology-Neurotology Live Surgical Broadcast |

The 10th Annual LION Live Surgical Broadcast will be held on Tuesday May 12, 2015. The main annual Global Live Surgical Broadcast of LION is one of the largest conferences in the ENT world.
More than 30 simultaneous live operating sessions will be performed by leading otologists from their own operating room worldwide
The program will cover a wide range of procedures in the field of otology & neurotology including otosclerosis, ossicular reconstruction, cholesteatoma surgery, implantable hearing aids (BAHA, PONTO, Bone Bridge, Vibrant Soundbridge), cochlear implantation (Nucleus, MedEl, Advanced Bionics, Oticon) and neurotology.
Various indications and surgical techniques will be discussed by combining case presentation, live surgery, and panel discussion. The surgeons will explain and demonstrate their surgical techniques via the LION Network. The moderating team located in Utrecht will facilitate active discussion to encourage international exchange of knowledge and ideas in this field between the surgeons and delegates in the conference halls or via the internet using the chat room.

The 17th International Otology Course of the Causse Ear Clinic (Béziers, France) will be held June 25-27, 2015. The morning live surgery sessions and all conferences, lectures and panel discussion will be broadcast live via the LION web site.

The Weekly LION HD Videoconferencing e-Learning Program is Running Again |

Initiated in April 2012, the LION e-learning program is a interactive point-to-point videoconferencing live surgery session running twice a week between the University Medical Center in Utrecht, (The Netherlands) and two distant institutions:

The tuesday broadcast commences at 08:15 and finishes at 12:30.
The thursday broadcast commences at 09:15 and finishes at 13:30.
The timing: is Central European Time. This allows for an easily accessed educational program in Otolaryngology.

The type of surgery of each morning session with case presentation will soon be available on the LION website. The program will focus on all aspects of middle ear reconstructive procedures
The program was stopped over the last few months and will run again in April 2015.
